Postdoctoral Fellow Position

Postdoctoral Fellow position at the Electron Imaging Center for Nanomachines (UCLA)

The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) is inviting applications for the post of Research Fellow in the Electron Imaging Center for Nanomachines (EICN). EICN focuses on structural studies of viruses and other cellular complexes by high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM). A combination of cryoEM imaging, image processing, 3D reconstruction, molecular modeling and bioinformatics is used to determine the high-resolution structures to understand viral and cellular functions. The EICN facilities are fully equipped for all aspects of viral production, cryoEM imaging, 3D reconstruction and structure analysis. Included in these facilities are an FEI 300 kV cryoEM microscope for high-resolution imaging, FEI vitrobot, excellent computational resources, and a cell culture room for viral work.

Desired Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in cryoEM, structural biology or a closely-related discipline. Demonstrated ability and success in density map interpretation, atomic model building and homology-based modeling is required. Experience and knowledge of virus and cell biology is a plus. The candidate should be a highly motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a collaborative and dynamic team. Strong communication, planning, and writing skills are required.

To Apply: Applicants should send a letter of application and a CV with a list of publications and contact information for three references by e-mail to Hong.Zhou at UCLA dot edu or by post to:
